Making use of the planning permission that allows under street level floor area to be 100% site coverage, we re-developed this hillside site facing onto South China Sea to a 5-storey townhouse with 3 floors below “ground” and 4 floors with view of the sea. Selective skylights and and high windows were experimented in this first house project, as well as solar heaters for the indoor swimming pool. Natural light was provided to all rooms and the basement. The result was an open and airy house within a confined site.
